Worked example
Keep error correction at H for table cards, M for clean posters, a border of 18 px or more, and export SVG or 1440 px for print.
Four controls decide whether a URL code scans well: error correction, export size, quiet border and colors. Error correction offers L, M, Q and H and starts at H, the highest. Each level lets the code survive more damage but costs space: for a 25-character address, L and M need a 25 by 25 module code, Q needs 29 by 29 and H needs 33 by 33.
A restaurant printing table cards that will be wiped with a cloth and sit under a lamp should keep H, because stains and glare hide modules. A poster read from a metre away on a clean wall can drop to M and get a coarser, larger-squared pattern. The center logo is on by default with the Chatcument mark and can be replaced with your own image, between 12 and 32 percent of the width and 22 percent by default; a logo only stays safe at H, and the tool warns when a logo is used at a lower level.
Export size runs from 320 to 1600 px in steps of 40 and starts at 720. For a website banner or a slide, 720 is plenty; for a card at about 3 cm, export SVG or 1440 px so the printer can scale without blur. PNG, SVG and WebP are all available, and SVG stays sharp at any size.
The quiet border (0 to 48 px, default 18) is the blank margin around the code. Setting it to 0 to save space is a classic mistake; scanners need empty space around the three corner markers, so keep at least 18 px and raise it to 40 or more when the code sits on a busy photo or a colored card.
Colors must keep contrast above 4.5:1 or export is blocked; dark code on a light background is always the safest choice. The four presets (Classic, Violet, Ocean, Ink) are scan-safe starting points, and the gradient option is fine as long as both ends stay dark.

Higher error correction survives more wear but makes the pattern denser; test the exact file at its real printed size.
