Worked example

With five fields the code is about 130 characters, so use M or Q, a size of 20 to 25 mm or more, and no oversized center logo.

A contact card carries far more data than a link, which makes error correction and size the settings that decide whether it scans. A name-only record is about 47 characters; with a phone, an email, an organization and a website it reaches roughly 130 characters. That moves a code from about 41 by 41 modules to somewhere around 49 to 61 per side, depending on the level.

Take a consultant who wants her card to be small. At H she gets the densest pattern, around 61 modules per side; at M the same five fields fit nearer 49 by 49, so each square can be bigger on the same 25 mm print. The tool starts at H, which suits damaged or glossy stock, but for a clean printed card M or Q is usually the better balance, and you can compare them in the live preview before exporting.

A center logo costs space as well: it covers 22 percent of the width by default and the tool recommends level H when one is present. If your card is tight, the better trade is to remove the logo or reduce it toward 15 percent and drop to Q than to shrink the whole code. Try to keep each module at about 0.4 mm or more at print size, which means a 49-module code should be at least 20 mm wide.

The export size runs from 320 to 1600 px; choose 1440 px or SVG for print and 720 px for an email signature. PNG, SVG and WebP are all available, and the quiet border (default 18 px) should stay above 18 even when the card is crowded. Colors need contrast above 4.5:1 or export is blocked, so keep a dark code on a light background.

A common mistake is choosing a pale brand color for the modules because it matches the card design. Pale modules scan slowly or not at all in dim light; keep the code darker than the surrounding artwork and let your branding sit around it instead of inside it.

Input

Chatcument; example contact fields

Output

BEGIN:VCARD / VERSION:3.0 / END:VCARD

More fields mean a denser code; test the card at its final print size with several phones before approving a run.

How do I check a code before printing or sharing it?

Test the destination link and keep clear space around the code. Decorative illustrations on this site are not usable QR codes or barcode samples.
