Worked example
Enter the number in international form (+ and country code) and a draft under about 40 characters; the tool writes SMSTO:number:message.
Imagine a restaurant putting a "Pickup is ready?" code on its table tents. Enter the number in full international form, such as +821012345678, rather than 010-1234-5678. The field accepts digits, plus, spaces, hyphens, brackets, dots, asterisk and hash, with at least three digits, but whatever you type is copied into the payload as written, so separators travel with it.
Keep the draft near 40 characters. The sample SMSTO:+821012345678:Running 10 minutes late is about 43 bytes and sits on a 37 x 37 grid at high error correction. Korean, Japanese and Chinese characters take 3 bytes each, so a 20-character Korean sentence alone adds about 60 bytes and moves the code to a denser grid.
A common mistake is using a local number format for a code that will be scanned by visitors or on roaming phones. A leading 0 and the national prefix can send the draft to the wrong country or to nobody. Fix it by adding the plus sign and country code, and drop the leading 0 of the national number.
Concrete check: press copy content and look at the text. It must start with SMSTO:, followed by the number, one colon, and then your draft. If you see two numbers or a stray space before the plus sign, correct the field before exporting.
