Worked example
Fill a title, a start date and time, and optionally an end and location; the tool writes a VEVENT record that must end after it starts.
Imagine a community centre printing an open-house flyer. The title is required, the start uses a date and time picker, and the end, if you set it, must be later than the start or the form says "End time must be after the start time." An overnight event is fine as long as the end date is the next day.
Check what the format cannot hold. There is no description box, no all-day option, no reminder, no recurrence and no guest list, so a "doors open at 13:30" note has to go in the title or location or on the flyer itself. Commas, semicolons and line breaks in the title and location are escaped for you.
A common mistake is trusting the time to mean the same thing everywhere. The code stores a plain local date and time with no time-zone marker, so a phone imports it in whatever zone it is set to. Write the zone beside the time on the printed piece, and keep the title short, about 30 characters, so the record stays compact.
Concrete check: press copy content. You should see BEGIN:VCALENDAR, VERSION:2.0, BEGIN:VEVENT, a SUMMARY line, DTSTART in the shape YYYYMMDDTHHMMSS with seconds 00, an optional DTEND and LOCATION, then END:VEVENT and END:VCALENDAR. Read the digits against your intended date before exporting.
Input
Event title + start and end
Output
Calendar event payload
The code imports an event once at scan time; it will not update if you later move the date.
