Worked example
Pair the code with a visible address and landmark, name the file by place, and note the exact coordinates; a moved location needs a new code.
The downloads arrive as chatcument-qr.png, .svg or .webp. Rename them with the place and the date of the coordinates, such as trailhead-north-geo-qr-v1.png, and keep a text note with the exact pair, for example 37.5665, 126.9780, plus who picked it and from which map. A year from now that note tells you whether the code should still be trusted.
Picture a hiking club adding a code to each trailhead board. Print the trail name, the parking address and a short instruction such as "Meet at the stone marker" beside the code, so people who cannot launch a map still arrive. For waterproofing, ask a print shop about laminating on a matte white sheet; avoid glossy finishes that glare.
A common mistake is reusing one code for a location that later moves, such as a market stall relocating to another corner. The code is static and keeps pointing to the old point. When the spot changes, regenerate with new coordinates, version the file name and replace every printed copy, or put the new code on a sticker over the old one.
When you pass files to a printer or colleague, include the 1200 px or larger PNG or the SVG, the coordinate note and a screenshot of the map pin that opens on a phone. That screenshot lets the receiver confirm the printed result against your intended spot.

Test the destination link and keep clear space around the code. Decorative illustrations on this site are not usable QR codes or barcode samples.
