Instagram downloader — free online tool

Save public Instagram Reels, posts and carousels from /reel/, /p/ and /tv/ links as MP4, image files or a ZIP, with quality and audio choices.

What to know

Instagram links are accepted in a few shapes: /p/ for posts, /reel/ or /reels/ for short videos, /tv/ for older long videos, and /stories/ for stories. Share links such as /share/p/ and /share/reel/ pass the form check too, and a username before the shortcode, as in /creator/reel/…, is fine. Instagram-owned short domain instagr.am also works.

What comes back depends on the shortcode. A Reel or video gives an MP4, a single-photo post gives the picture in its source format, usually JPG, and a multi-image post arrives as one ZIP. Only /p/ links are treated as possible multi-item posts, so a Reel is always a single video.

Video previews list Original quality first, then lower steps measured on the shorter edge, such as 720p or 480p. A step appears only when it is below the source and the service can produce it. Audio rows in MP3, M4A, Opus, WAV and FLAC sit underneath for any video.

Private accounts, deleted posts and stories that need a login end with the message that the public media could not be inspected. Instagram may also turn the service away for a while, which shows up as a temporary source restriction rather than a verdict on your link. Reels often use licensed music, so reposting a saved Reel elsewhere is a rights question as much as a technical one.

How to use Instagram downloader — free online tool
  1. In the Instagram app or site, open the Reel or post and use Copy link, giving an address like https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cx1AbCdEfGh/.
  2. Paste it into the Link field; the form trims tracking parameters such as ?igsh=… when you click away.
  3. Wait for the preview, then pick Original quality, or a lower row such as 720p if the file must stay small.
  4. Tick the rights box and press Prepare selected file; a Reel normally finishes as a single .mp4 within moments.

Quick answers

Which Instagram link shapes does the downloader recognise?

Posts at /p/, Reels at /reel/ and /reels/, long videos at /tv/, stories at /stories/, and /share/p/ or /share/reel/ share links. Profile pages, hashtags and the explore page are rejected.

Why did a story link pass the check but fail to load?

The pattern check only looks at the path. Stories normally need a signed-in viewer, so the preview step cannot see them and reports that the public media is unavailable.

Does the download include the caption, comments or likes?

No. You receive the media files only, so copy any caption text yourself if you need it and credit the creator when you reuse it.
