Have the permalink of one public carousel post, and make sure the media is yours or its owner allows you to keep a copy.

In Instagram, open the post and use the share menu to copy its link; it should look like instagram.com/p/ followed by a short code. A profile address, a story, a private account or a login page is rejected with a message that profiles are not supported or that the link is not valid. Chatcument checks that the host belongs to Instagram and that the path looks like a post, a reel or a carousel before it even asks for a preview.

Picture a boutique owner who published a ten-slide lookbook and lost the original files after changing laptops. She copies the permalink from her own post, pastes it, waits for the preview, and sees the title, a thumbnail and an item count. That count is the number to remember.

The usual mistake is copying the address from the browser bar while a modal or a profile grid is open, which gives a profile link instead of the post. Another is pasting a link from a private account, where the preview will fail however many times you retry. Open the link in a private window first: if it needs a login, the tool cannot see it either.

Last check before you continue: note the number of slides, whether it mixes photos and video, and who owns each. Then tick the rights confirmation only if it is honestly true. The Prepare button stays disabled until you do.
