Xiaohongshu note addresses look like xiaohongshu.com/explore/ followed by a hexadecimal ID, the older /discovery/item/ID form, or the short links the app creates on xhslink.com, xhsurl.com and xhs.cn. When a link carries an xsec_token parameter it is kept, because the page uses it to open the note; on other links the query string is cut.

Notes come in two kinds. A picture note is a gallery with a title and a long caption, and it is read from the public metadata on the note page, using each picture’s default-size URL; several pictures arrive in one ZIP. A video note is read through the video inspection path and offers an MP4 with the usual quality rows plus audio formats.

The share text copied from the app is a whole sentence with the link inside it. Paste only the address, because the Link field wants a clean https URL and rejects text around it. If a note is shown only after login, or the link has expired or lost its token, the preview reports that the public media could not be prepared.

Xiaohongshu notes are creator content built for product discovery, and a large share carries brand partnerships, so photos and videos are often paid for or licensed by an advertiser. Keep notes for your own reference, never repost someone’s note as your own, and ask in writing before using a creator’s images in a campaign.

  2. Paste it into the Link field and wait for the preview to show the title and the image or video type.
  3. For a video note pick Original quality or a lower step; for a picture note keep the Original quality row.
  4. Tick the rights box, press Prepare selected file, then save whatever arrives: an MP4 for a video note, images or a .zip for a picture note.
