Facebook downloader — free online tool

Save public Facebook Reels, videos and posts from facebook.com and fb.watch links, as MP4, images or a ZIP of up to 20 files, plus audio.

What to know

Facebook is the platform with the widest range of address forms. The form accepts /reel/ID, /share/r/… and /share/v/… links, fb.watch/CODE short links, /name/videos/ID, /watch?v=ID, /video.php?v=ID, permalink.php?story_fbid=ID, /name/posts/ID and group links of the form /groups/name/posts/ID or /groups/name/permalink/ID. Newer ID strings that start with pfbid are accepted too.

The address is then cut down to the one identifying parameter, v, video_id or story_fbid, and everything else on the query string is dropped, except on fb.watch and /share/ links where it is kept because the redirect needs it. Profile pages, Pages home screens, photo albums and the feed are rejected as not being a single piece of content.

On Facebook any address is allowed to produce several files, since a post can combine a handful of photos and a video. A post with several items comes back as one ZIP of up to 20, while a single video is a plain MP4 with the usual ladder and audio rows.

Visibility on Facebook has many levels: Public, Friends, a private group, a closed Page. Only Public content can be read without logging in, so friends-only videos, private-group posts and anything deleted end with an unavailable message. Public does not mean free to reuse, and people appear in many Facebook videos, so a face or a voice calls for consent as well as copyright permission.

How to use Facebook downloader — free online tool
  1. On the post or video, tap Share, choose Copy link, and paste an address like https://www.facebook.com/reel/1234567890123456.
  2. Check the preview: a Reel or video shows a duration and size, a post shows an image size and, if several, an item count.
  3. Choose Original quality or a lower step such as 480p; pick an audio row for sound only.
  4. Tick the rights box, press Prepare selected file, and when the bar completes save the MP4, the image or the archive.

Quick answers

Which Facebook address forms are accepted?

Reels at /reel/, share links at /share/r/ and /share/v/, fb.watch short links, /videos/ and /posts/ addresses, watch and video.php links with a v parameter, permalink.php with story_fbid, and group posts or permalinks.

What are the long pfbid strings in some Facebook links?

They are newer post identifiers that Facebook uses instead of plain numbers. The form accepts both the numeric and the pfbid form.

Why does my Facebook link say the media is unavailable?

The content is probably not Public, or it has been deleted. The service reads only what a logged-out visitor can see.
