Worked example

Open the saved Reel in a normal video player and compare four things with the preview: dimensions, duration, orientation and sound.

Check the file properties first. A vertical Reel is typically 9:16, so 1080 × 1920 is a common size, and the width and height should match the pixel size the preview showed for the option you chose. The duration should agree with the preview to within about a second, and the file size should be in the neighbourhood of the estimate.

A video editor receiving the clip from a colleague should then play it from start to finish with headphones on. Look at the first frame, a few seconds in the middle and the last frame for stutter, and listen for speech and music. If sound is missing, compare with the live Reel in the browser to see whether the original has it, since audio on the platform can be muted or restricted separately.

The usual mistake is trusting the thumbnail. A clip can look fine as an icon and still be cut short, play sideways or have no audio. Scrub the timeline to the end, then open the file in a second player to rule out a codec quirk of the first.

Finally, compare a single frame with the live Reel side by side: the framing, the burned-in captions and the on-screen text should be in the same place. If something looks off, prepare the file again with Original quality instead of editing the bad copy.
