X downloader — free online tool

Save public X (Twitter) videos and photos from x.com, twitter.com and t.co status links, as MP4 by bitrate, original images or a ZIP of photos.

What to know

X status links look like x.com/name/status/ID, the same on twitter.com, the neutral form x.com/i/status/ID, and the older /i/web/status/ID and /statuses/ID paths. A trailing /video/1 or /photo/1 is allowed, and t.co short links are accepted and keep their query string. Every other query parameter is dropped.

When the main inspection route cannot read a post, the service reads X’s public embed data instead. That route lists the photos of the post, up to four, and every MP4 variant of a video along with its bitrate. The variant with the biggest pixel area, and then the highest bitrate, becomes Original quality, and smaller variants fill the quality ladder.

Because the embed data gives a bitrate, the preview can estimate a size without downloading: bitrate times duration divided by eight. A 40-second video at 2 Mbps is about 9.5 MB. Audio rows are built from the same video file, so a clip can also be saved as an MP3 or M4A.

A post with no photo or video has nothing to save, and posts from protected accounts, deleted posts and posts hidden behind age or sensitivity gates are not public media. News and sports clips on X are usually owned by an agency or broadcaster rather than by the poster, so check who holds the footage before reposting it.

How to use X downloader — free online tool
  1. In X, tap Share on the post, choose Copy link, and paste an address like https://x.com/creator/status/1712345678901234567.
  2. Wait for the preview; a video shows a duration and size, a photo post shows an image size and possibly a count up to 4.
  3. For a video choose Original quality or a smaller variant; for photos keep the Original quality row.
  4. Tick the rights box, then press Prepare selected file and keep whichever of MP4, image or .zip is produced.

Quick answers

Do twitter.com and t.co links still work?

Yes. Hosts x.com, twitter.com and t.co are all recognised, and t.co short links keep their query string so the redirect can resolve to the status.

How many photos can one X post give me?

X allows up to four photos per post, and the service puts them in one ZIP in order. A post with a single photo downloads as one image file.

Why does a post with only text give an error?

There is no photo or video to prepare, so the service reports the public media as unavailable. The text itself is not downloaded.
