AI background removal — free online tool
Cut the background out of up to 4 JPG, PNG or WebP images (16 MB total) and get transparent PNGs, singly or as a ZIP. Processed on a server, one at a time.

Remove image backgrounds
The server removes each background one at a time, then returns transparent PNG files for individual or ZIP download.
What to know
Unlike most image tools on the site, background removal does not run inside your browser tab. Each file is sent to a server worker, processed one at a time, and returned as a transparent PNG. A batch takes up to 4 images and 16 MB of input in total, and only JPG, PNG and WebP are accepted; AVIF and SVG are rejected with a format message.
There are two modes, selected by the page you are on: portrait for people and product-image for objects. This root page defaults to portrait. If the result clips the subject, try the other mode on the same file, since the two are tuned for different edge behavior.
The server answers a busy queue with a request to wait, and the endpoint is rate limited to 8 requests per minute, so a batch of 4 is comfortable but repeated retries are not. Finished cutouts can be downloaded one by one or as a ZIP, and the in-session results list is capped at 64 MB.
Always inspect the cutout on both a light and a dark background. Hair, glass, thin straps, shadows and anything the same color as the backdrop are the usual trouble spots, and no automatic method is perfect. Save the PNG before adding a new background so you can swap colors later.

Quick answers
Is my image processed in the browser?
No. This is one of the few tools that sends the file to a server worker, and it says so in the batch panel. Use the browser-based tools if a file must not leave your device.
Why was my AVIF or SVG file rejected?
Background removal accepts JPG, PNG and WebP only. Convert the file first with the convert tool, then come back.
What do I get back?
A PNG with a transparent background for each image, downloadable individually or together as a ZIP.
Why did I get a too many requests message?
The endpoint allows 8 requests per minute and handles a limited queue of cutouts. Wait a moment and continue with the remaining images.
