What to know

This enlarger multiplies width and height by 2 or 4 using the canvas high-quality smoothing filter. It interpolates between existing pixels; it does not invent detail, so a soft photo becomes a bigger soft photo rather than a sharp one.

The Scale menu holds only 2x and 4x. A 1200 x 800 image becomes 2400 x 1600 at 2x and 4800 x 3200 at 4x, which is 15.36 million pixels. Output is capped at 64 million pixels, so 2x works for sources up to 16 million pixels (4000 x 4000) and 4x for sources up to 4 million pixels (2000 x 2000); anything larger stops with a size message instead of freezing the tab.

The exported file keeps your source format at quality 0.92 when it is JPG, PNG or WebP, and falls back to PNG for AVIF or SVG input. You can queue up to 12 images with 48 MB of total input and process them one after another in the same session.

Typical jobs are lifting a 960 x 540 thumbnail to a 1920 x 1080 slot, preparing a 2x asset for high-density screens, or reaching a minimum pixel size a form demands. When the picture itself needs recovered detail, an interpolation step cannot supply it.
