What to know

This is a timeline editor rather than a single-purpose converter. Drop MP4, M4V, MOV, WebM or GIF files onto it and they land end to end on a video track, with a second track for text and shapes. You can split a clip at the playhead, drag its edges to trim, undo, redo and preview with sound before exporting.

GIF files are first converted to an MP4 with even pixel dimensions and yuv420p color, because the timeline decodes video. Transparency is flattened in that step. The canvas starts at 1920 x 1080 and switches to 9:16 (1080 x 1920) or 1:1 (1080 x 1080) for stories, shorts and avatars.

Export offers four formats. MP4 uses H.264 video and AAC audio at 6 Mbps. GIF and WebP add controls for frame rate (6, 8, 12, 15, 18 or 24 fps), speed (0.5x to 2x) and direction. PNG ZIP writes every frame as a numbered image and refuses edits that would produce more than 120 frames. Output height is 480, 720 or 1080 px.

  1. Drop one or more MP4, MOV, WebM or GIF files onto the editor; each becomes a clip at the end of the timeline.
  2. Pick the canvas ratio 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1, then split with the scissors at the playhead and drag clip edges to trim.
  3. Optionally add a title clip (default text size 72 px) and drag it into place on the preview.
  4. In Export choose a format and an output height of 480, 720 or 1080 px; for GIF set 12 fps and speed 1x.
  5. Press Export, wait for the percentage to reach 100, then download the file.

Quick answers

Which export format suits a short looping clip?

GIF plays everywhere but is limited to 256 colors per frame. WebP keeps more color at quality 80, while MP4 is the only choice that keeps audio and is usually the most compact for anything longer than a few seconds.

Why can a PNG ZIP export fail?

It stops when the result would exceed 120 frames. That is 10 seconds at 12 fps but only 5 seconds at 24 fps, so trim the clip or lower the frame rate.

Why did my GIF lose its transparent background?

Every GIF is converted to MP4 before it enters the timeline, and MP4 has no alpha channel, so transparent pixels become solid.
