Rotate and flip — free online tool
Rotate an image 0, 90, 180 or 270 degrees and flip it horizontally or vertically. Right-angle turns only, saved in the original format.

The preview will appear here after you select a file.
What to know
Rotating fixes a picture that arrived sideways or upside down, and flipping mirrors it. The tool has two selectors: Rotation with 0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees, and Flip with None, Horizontal and Vertical. Only right-angle turns are supported, so there is no free-angle straightening for a slightly tilted horizon.
Both selectors are applied in one pass. The picture is mirrored first when a flip is chosen, then turned, and the result is drawn on a new canvas. A 90 or 270 degree turn swaps the dimensions, so a 4000 x 3000 landscape becomes 3000 x 4000 portrait, whereas 180 degrees and flips keep the size. Rotation defaults to 90 when a file is loaded, so check the selector before you apply.
The output is written in the original format, with quality 92 for JPG and WebP, and no source metadata is carried across. That has a practical benefit: the turn is baked into the pixels, and the new file carries no orientation tag of its own that a viewer could apply a second time. Because JPG and WebP are encoded afresh, repeated rotations of the same file add a little loss each time; rotate from the original once.
Because the tool is a single-image editor, it works through a queue of up to 12 files and 48 MB, one at a time in the browser. Typical uses are scans, phone photos, sideways screenshots and mirrored selfies.

Quick answers
Can I rotate by an arbitrary angle such as 5 degrees?
No. Only 0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees are supported, so straightening a tilted horizon needs a photo editor with free rotation.
Why did the width and height swap?
A 90 or 270 degree turn exchanges the sides of the image. A 4000 x 3000 file becomes 3000 x 4000, which is expected.
Does rotating a JPG lose quality?
The picture is encoded again at quality 92, so a small amount of detail can change. Rotate once from the original file, not repeatedly from earlier output.
Which direction is a 90 degree turn?
Positive angles turn the picture clockwise. For a counter-clockwise quarter turn, choose 270 degrees.
