Resize GIF — free online tool
Resize a GIF to 480, 720 or 1080 px height, keeping its proportions on a 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1 canvas. Frame rate 6 to 24 fps.

What to know
Sizing is expressed as output height: 480, 720 or 1080 px. The width follows from the canvas ratio and is kept even, so a 16:9 canvas gives 854 x 480, 1280 x 720 or 1920 x 1080 and a 1:1 canvas gives 480 x 480, 720 x 720 or 1080 x 1080.
There is no field for an arbitrary width such as 500 px. If you need an exact size, choose the nearest ratio and height, then check the dimensions in your viewer. Making a GIF larger than its source adds pixels but no detail, so stretching a 320 px GIF up to 1080 px just looks soft.
Shrinking is where this pays off. Halving both dimensions leaves a quarter of the pixels, and lowering the frame rate from 24 to 12 fps halves the frame count, so together they can cut a heavy GIF to a fraction of its size. Frames are resampled with the Lanczos filter, which keeps edges crisper than a plain bilinear scale.
The result is rebuilt as a new GIF with one 256-color palette and sierra2_4a dithering, so colors can differ slightly from the original palette, particularly in gradients.

How to use Resize GIF — free online tool
- Drop the GIF you want to resize.
- Select the canvas ratio that matches the source, usually 16:9 for wide animations.
- Set Output height to 480; a 16:9 canvas then yields 854 x 480.
- Lower Frame rate from 24 to 12 fps if the file is still large, then press Export.
Quick answers
Can I type an exact width like 500 px?
No. You choose an output height of 480, 720 or 1080 px and a canvas ratio, and the width is derived from them.
Which settings give a 480 x 480 square?
Select the 1:1 canvas and set Output height to 480. For 720 x 720 or 1080 x 1080 raise the height to match.
Does resizing change how long the GIF plays?
No. At speed 1x the duration stays the same; only the pixel dimensions change, plus the frame rate if you alter it.
