Download X post — free online tool

Paste any public X status link and get whatever media it holds: one video as MP4, one to four photos, with the type detected before you download.

What to know

Use the post page when you copied a status link and do not remember what was attached. The preview classifies it for you: a video shows a duration and MP4 rows, photos show an image size and a count, and a bare text post is reported as having no public media.

Replies and quote posts each have their own status ID. The ID in your link decides what is read, so the media shown is the media of that exact status, not of the post it replies to or quotes. If you want the quoted video, open the quoted post and copy its own link.

The status address can be x.com, twitter.com or the /i/status/ID form that the app shares from some screens. Query parameters such as ?s=20 or ?t=… are cut off when you click away from the field, so share trackers never reach the preview request.

A post is public, but its media usually belongs to the poster or to an outlet that licensed it. Saving one for research, a news archive of your own posts, or a conversation with the author is different from rebroadcasting it. Keep the original link and handle in your records so you can credit and, if asked, remove it.

How to use Download X post — free online tool
  1. Open the post in X, choose Share, then Copy link, and paste an address such as https://x.com/creator/status/1712345678901234567.
  2. Read the preview to see whether the post holds a video, photos or nothing downloadable.
  3. Pick Original quality or a smaller video variant; photos have one row and a ZIP when there are several.
  4. Tick the rights box, press Prepare selected file and download the result.

Quick answers

If I paste a reply that quotes a video, do I get the quoted video?

No. The status ID in your link decides the media, so you get the reply’s own attachments. Copy the quoted post’s link to download its video.

Why do tracking parameters like ?s=20 disappear from my pasted link?

The form removes query strings from X status links, except on t.co, because they are not needed to find the post.

Can the post downloader save the thread text or replies?

No, only media files are saved. Copy the text yourself and credit the author.
