Download Facebook post — free online tool

Download the photos or video from a public Facebook post at /posts/, permalink.php or a public group link, as images or a ZIP of up to 20.

What to know

Post addresses come in three families here: /name/posts/ID on a Page or profile, permalink.php with a story_fbid parameter, and group links shaped like /groups/name/posts/ID or /groups/name/permalink/ID. The ID may be plain digits or one of the newer pfbid strings.

A post is the container, and the media inside decides the file you get. Several photos arrive in one ZIP of up to 20, a single photo as one image, and a post built around a video as an MP4 with quality rows. Because the post text and comments are not media, they are not saved.

Only a post that a logged-out visitor can open is readable. Group posts therefore work only for public groups; closed and secret groups, and anything shared with Friends, produce the unavailable message. Pages publish most of their posts publicly, which is why Page posts are the most common success case.

Shared posts and album photos are often someone else’s pictures reposted by a business page. The page may have licensed those images, and you may not be covered by that licence. Save what you need for reference, credit the photographer, and ask the Page owner before using their pictures in your own marketing.

How to use Download Facebook post — free online tool
  1. Open the post, tap the timestamp or the three dots, copy its link, and paste an address like https://www.facebook.com/examplepage/posts/pfbid02AbCdEf.
  2. Read the preview to see Image or Video, a pixel size, and an item count if there are several photos.
  3. Keep Original quality for photos; for a video post, pick a lower step when you need a smaller file.
  4. Tick the rights box, press Prepare selected file, and open the downloaded image or unzip the archive.

Quick answers

Does a public group post work the same as a Page post?

If the group is public and the post opens without logging in, yes. Posts in closed or secret groups cannot be read and end with the unavailable message.

Are the text and comments of the post saved with the photos?

No. Only the media files are prepared; copy any text yourself and credit the author.

Why does my permalink.php link get rejected?

It needs a story_fbid parameter made of digits or a pfbid string. A permalink.php link without it does not identify one post.
