Worked example

List every private item in the screenshot first, including tab titles, URLs and reflections, because the tool only pixelates what you mark.

Take a support agent sharing a screenshot of an order page with a customer. Look for the name and address block, the email in the header, the order number, the avatar, the browser tab title, the address bar with any token or ID in the URL, a notification toast in the corner and the reflection of a second window. Write the list down and tick each item off as you cover it.

Check the resolution as well. A 1920 × 1080 px capture has text about 14 to 16 px tall, which an 18 px pixel size covers cleanly, but a tiny 480 px wide thumbnail leaves only a few pixels per character and is hard to mark accurately. Use the largest capture you have.

Remember that the tool pixelates the marked regions; it does not paint a solid box. That works for most text, but for secrets such as passwords, API keys and card or ID numbers the safest route is to avoid capturing them at all, or to remove that strip with the crop tool.

The common mistake is hiding the visible field but leaving the same data in the tab title, in the file name or in a second monitor reflection. Fix: scan the whole frame in the order top, sides, bottom and corners, and rename the file before sharing.
