What to know

Use this page when you have a post link and do not yet know whether it carries a video or pictures. The preview decides: a video produces an MP4 with a duration, while photos produce an image with its pixel size and an item count when there are several.

The post link is the unit of work. A thread is a chain of separate posts, and each reply has its own address, so saving the first post never pulls in the replies. If a creator spreads three pictures over three replies, you have to paste three links.

When pictures are present, the largest version from the page’s responsive image set is the one chosen, which is why a Threads photo can arrive wider than it looked on a phone. When a video is present it takes priority over images, because the post is treated as a video post.

Reposts and quote posts are different posts from the original. Saving a quoted image from the quoting post is allowed technically, but the copyright stays with whoever made it, so link to the original instead of re-hosting it whenever you can.
