A one-way rental fits a road trip that does not loop back: fly into one city, drive the coast, and fly home from another. Rentcars supports one-way rentals between states and across borders, with different pickup and drop-off locations chosen in the same search.
Most rental companies add a one-way fee to cover the cost of getting the car back to where it belongs. The amount depends on the distance, the company, the car category and the length of the rental, so the same route can price very differently from one brand to another.
