Enter your flight details and a short description, and the software checks whether you are entitled to anything. Compensair then prepares the documents, sends them to the airline and handles the replies, so you are not the one writing to customer service.

Delay payouts by distance

Delay payouts by distance

A delay of 3 hours or more at the final destination pays €250 up to 1,500 km, €400 for longer EU flights and for 1,500 to 3,500 km, and €600 beyond 3,500 km. The table also lists €300 for flights over 3,500 km that land between 3 and 4 hours late.

Cancellations and the 14-day line

Cancellations and the 14-day line

Told less than 14 days before departure, you can claim €250, €400 or €600 depending on distance. If the replacement flight gets you there only slightly later, the amount can drop to €125, €200 or €300.

Overbooked and left behind

Overbooked and left behind

If you checked in on time with valid documents and did not give up your seat, an involuntary denied boarding pays in the same three distance bands. You also keep the right to choose between a refund and a new flight.

The route table shows that EU rules apply to every flight leaving the EU, whatever the airline, and to flights into the EU on an EU airline. A flight between two non-EU airports is outside EU 261.

FAQ

How much can I get?

EU 261 sets €250 for flights up to 1,500 km, €400 for longer EU flights and for 1,500 to 3,500 km, and €600 beyond that. Compensair quotes €450 as the average its clients received.

What does it cost?

Checking and filing are free. The service fee is 35% of the compensation obtained and is settled only once money has come in; if outside lawyers or court fees are needed, a legal fee of 10% of the compensation can be added.

Do I need an EU passport?

No. Citizenship does not matter, and what counts is your route and the operating airline.

How long does a claim take?

Some airlines answer in 2 to 3 days, others take 4 to 6 weeks. Compensair aims for a settlement before court within about 8 weeks on average, and a court route can stretch to 16 to 20 weeks.

How old can the flight be?

Flights from the last 2 to 6 years can usually be claimed, depending on the operating airline and the route.

What do I have to provide?

Signed consent plus the flight and booking or ticket number. To pay you out, Compensair asks for your bank details and a passport copy.
