Worked example

Trimming problems show up as a refused file, a click at the cut, an export longer than expected or a disabled export button.

If you see "Use up to 16 tracks and 100 MB per project.", the file or the total is too big. A 60-minute WAV at about 635 MB will never load; pick the MP3 or M4A version instead, or split the recording first. If you see "Choose audio files such as MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, or Opus.", the file type is not audio, for example a video.

If the message says one or more files could not be opened, the browser could not decode the file, which usually means damage or an unusual codec. Remove it and choose the file again, or re-save the recording from the original app as WAV or MP3. If the timeline could not be prepared, do the same.

If the exported WAV has silence at the start, the clip was not at the beginning of the timeline, and the gap became part of the project. Drag the clip to the very start before exporting. A click at the cut means the boundary fell inside a loud wave: nudge it into a quieter spot.

If Export WAV is greyed out, the waveform is still loading; wait for the tracks to appear fully. If an export fails with the playback-loaded message, press play briefly, stop, and try again.

What should I listen for in the exported audio?

Play the beginning, end, and each edited transition in the downloaded file. Check that speech is not cut off, fades sound natural, and louder sections do not distort.
