Worked example

The trimmed result downloads as chatcument-audio-edit.wav, so rename it to say what it contains and keep a note of the in and out points.

A name such as ep12_teaser_0010-0040.wav records the episode, the purpose and the source times, so anyone can rebuild the excerpt from the original if the host wants 45 seconds instead. Keep that original recording untouched; the trimmer works on a copy in the browser and nothing is written back to it.

The export is WAV, which is ideal for a video editor or a mastering step but heavy for email or a chat app. A 30-second stereo clip is about 5.3 MB as WAV, 0.72 MB as a 192 kbps MP3 and 0.48 MB at 128 kbps. Run it through the MP3 or M4A converter when the destination is a phone, a website or a messaging app.

The mistake that causes rework is delivering before checking the destination rules. Ringtone slots, social platforms and podcast hosts each publish their own length and format limits, and they change, so read the current upload guide first instead of assuming that 30 seconds is allowed.

Closing the tab loses the project, and the page warns you when you try. Download first, then reopen the file from your folder and play it once. For a batch of clips, keep a small text list of source file, start and end times so every excerpt can be reproduced exactly.
