Audio equalizer — Audio effects
Shape tone with four audio EQ presets built from fixed filters at 80 Hz to 10 kHz; each decibel change is listed so you know what you apply.

What to know
An equalizer raises or lowers loudness in chosen frequency bands. Here each preset is a short chain of filters, and none of them can be moved: Balanced leaves the sound alone, while Voice clarity, More bass and More detail each apply fixed boosts and cuts.
Reading the numbers helps you choose. Below 80 Hz sits rumble, desk thumps and wind, and Voice clarity removes it. Around 180 to 250 Hz speech sounds boxy, and the voice preset trims 2 dB at 180 Hz. Consonants live near 2.8 kHz, where the same preset adds 4 dB. Air and sparkle appear near 5 and 10 kHz, which More detail lifts by 4 and 3 dB.
Decibels convert to amplitude with the formula 10 raised to dB over 20. A 6 dB boost therefore multiplies the signal by about 2, a 4 dB boost by about 1.58, and a 2 dB cut by about 0.79. That is why a strong bass lift can push a loud file into clipping.
If you want a louder result, run Volume after the equalizer instead of picking a stronger preset. Setting the level last keeps the peaks under control and avoids guessing how much headroom the filters used up.
More bass adds 6 dB at 100 Hz and 2 dB at 250 Hz, which warms up thin phone recordings but also muddies speech, so it fits music better than interviews.

How to use Audio equalizer — Audio effects
- Load a file and choose Equalizer from the effects tabs.
- Select More bass for a thin laptop mix, or Voice clarity for a muffled interview.
- Export a WAV so you can set the level afterwards without another lossy pass.
- Process, A/B the preview against the source, and download if the tone is better.
Quick answers
How much louder is a 6 dB boost?
It doubles the amplitude in that band, and the 10^(dB/20) formula gives about 1.995 for 6 dB.
Which preset removes low rumble?
Voice clarity, because it begins with a high-pass filter at 80 Hz.
Can I set my own centre frequency?
No. The four presets use fixed frequencies and gains, and there is no custom band.
Why does speech sound muddy after More bass?
The preset adds 2 dB at 250 Hz as well as 6 dB at 100 Hz, which sits in the boxy range of a voice.
