MDF wall panelling kits you can fit yourself

A panelling kit takes away the part most people dread, which is working out what to buy. The standard MDF kit covers around 2.8 metres of wall and about 1 metre of height, and the numbers can be adjusted with the options you choose.

The box holds the skirting board, a dado rail, three 95mm square panel strips and four lengths of panel moulding. The 324 and Inset mouldings are both offered, and the squares measure 600mm if you build the layout shown on the page.

Lengths are supplied square, so you cut and mitre them to fit. That is straightforward with a mitre saw, and the fitting guide walks through the order of work.

An optional 9mm backing sheet suits uneven walls, although it makes the panelling sit proud of the wall by 9mm and leaves a join at the top that needs filling and sanding.

The range runs well beyond one design: Shaker, Canterbury Shaker, Classic, Oxford Classic, Geometric and Greenwich tongue and groove, plus half-height versions for lower walls. Two calculators on the site help you work out quantities.

It is optional and helps on uneven walls, but it adds 9mm to the thickness of the panelling.

Can I order a bespoke variation?
