Last-minute flights: what to expect

Kiwi.com keeps a last-minute flights page for trips leaving within days. When we looked, it showed one-way fares from £14 to Jeju City, £24 to Busan, £44 to Fukuoka and £58 to Tokyo, and fares change.

The search compares hundreds of airlines in one go, with flexible dates and alternative airports. It also includes mixed itineraries that combine different carriers.

The page is frank about the trade-offs. Availability can be limited, certain routes may sell out quickly, and the best deals tend to be found one to three days before departure.

Many last-minute fares are non-refundable, depending on the airline, so check the conditions before you pay. Trustpilot shows more than 138,000 reviews, and the page counts over 10 million explorers.
