Modpack server RAM depends on the pack and the player count

The host's own answer is a calculator. On the modded server page you choose the modpack, slide the number of players, and it returns the amount of RAM it considers best for that combination. The player counts printed on plan cards are recommendations worked out for a Vanilla server, so they should not be read as modpack numbers.

The usual stress test is All the Mods 10. With nearly 500 mods, automation-heavy bases and fresh chunk generation stacking on top of each other, it is the pack that tends to push people toward bigger plans, with 12 GB as the common default. Godlike.Host says its optimized build makes 8 GB a more realistic starting point for many playthroughs.

RAM is only part of the picture, because mob AI, pathfinding, recipe lookups and chunk saving all land on the CPU. That is why the host points to the large L3 cache of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D for heavy packs, while noting that not every location runs that processor. Lag with plenty of memory free usually points there.

You do not need to buy big on day one. RAM and player slots can be raised without a restart, a reinstall or lost progress. First-order codes take 40% off from 12 GB and 30% off below that, so pick the size the calculator suggests and let the discount follow.

FAQ

Where do I find the RAM my modpack needs?

Use the RAM calculator on the modded server page: pick the pack, set the player slider and read the suggested size.

Can I use the player numbers on plan cards for a modpack?

No. Those figures are recommendations for a Vanilla server, and the real player cap is set in server.properties.

What RAM should ATM10 start on?

It usually pushes players toward 12 GB, but Godlike.Host says its optimized pack makes 8 GB a realistic start for many playthroughs.

Can I add RAM later if it is not enough?

Yes. RAM and player slots can be upgraded without a restart or reinstall.
