Worked example

Start with the duration.

The audio file should be as long as the video, give or take a fraction of a second, so a 60:00 lecture should show about 60:00 and a 3-minute clip about 3:00. A much shorter result means part of the track was not read.

Check the start and end against the video. Play the first spoken word in the video and in the audio side by side; they should begin together. Do the same for the final sentence, because an offset at the end points to a problem you would otherwise only notice on a long listen.

Estimate the expected size and compare it with the downloaded file: at 128 kbps one hour is about 57.6 MB, at 192 kbps about 86.4 MB, and a 10-minute clip at 192 kbps should be close to 14.4 MB. A WAV of the same ten minutes will be nearer 100 MB.

A common mistake is checking only the first minute. Listen to a random point in the middle as well, since a dropout or a swapped language can start anywhere, and confirm the voice you wanted is the one you hear.

Last, open the file in a different player or phone to confirm the format. The result card lists the format, length and size, and the file name should end with -video-to-mp3, -video-to-m4a or -video-to-wav before the extension.
