What to know

The D-day page asks for one thing, a Target date, and compares it with today on your device. The label under the result reads From today, and the value is written the way countdowns are shown on exam boards and wedding sites.

The rule is simple: if the target is today or later the output is D- followed by the days remaining, and if it is in the past the output is D+ followed by the days since. With today at 2025-12-01 and a target of 2025-12-25 you see D-24, on the target day you see D-0, and the next day D+1.

Because today is not counted as a day of its own, D-0 marks the event itself rather than one day before it. If your culture or club counts the event day as day 1, treat the displayed number as one lower than your own count.

A small note under the result reminds you that the device date is used. Open the page after midnight and the number changes by one without you touching a field, which is the intended behaviour for a countdown.

Typical targets are exam dates, wedding days, product launches and trip departures. Setting the target to today is a quick check that the device date is what you expect, since the result reads D-0 only when the two dates match.

Quick answers

What does D-0 mean?

It means the target date is today. One day later the same target is shown as D+1.

Does the countdown include the target day itself?

No. It counts the midnights between today and the target, so a target 24 days away reads D-24 and not D-25.

Why is there no End date field on this page?

The end of the span is always today from your device clock. For two fixed dates, use the date-difference page.

Which time zone decides what today is?

The calendar date shown by your device. The comparison then runs on whole days, so the time of day does not matter.
